623 House Development

The Stoke Street development consisted of six new townhouses in Newtown for Dwell Housing Trust.

There was a shortage of larger units in Wellington, so two townhouses were designed as four-bedroom residences for larger families. Striving for inclusion, one of the larger townhouses was also made "accessible" for people with disabilities, to help improve their lifestyle. The remaining townhouses are comprised of two and three-bedroom units for families on low incomes.

Dwell Housing Trust and Pelorus wanted the townhouses to be inexpensive but comfortable and healthy for families. We provided a high quality but affordable design. We specified high levels of insulation, double glazed windows, efficient heating systems and thermal curtains.

This project has helped provide more housing for lower income families in the city and nestled them into the existing residential fabric of Newtown.
