To re-establish best practice service delivery, a dedicated children’s waiting area has been built in Wellington Hospital Emergency Department.

Creating a child-friendly environment within the waiting area was necessary to form separation from adult users and provide a more child-appropriate space for children and their families as they await medical care.

Pelorus received a project brief from the client, outlining key features of the design such as visibility for nursing staff, appropriate decoration for young children, all fitted carefully within the existing waiting area.
