The Christchurch Earthquake not only caused physical damage to the existing fit-out of Show Place, but lead to  staff levels increasing to more than twice the intended design.

 

The project was fast-tracked.  It grew from a simple repair project to a comprehensive upgrade of the existing services and full architectural re-fit. Through decanting a floor to temporary premises, the works were staged into 7 segments; 6 floors + a revised cafeteria. Through the course of 12 months all 6,500m² was rebuilt, adding some 16 meeting rooms, additional staff facilities and an intelligent BMS system which monitors the building’s energy efficiency.
