Insurance moved their head office into the State Insurance Tower, formerly
the BNZ Centre, in Willis Street Wellington. Pelorus worked closely with
State through this fast tracked project, which included conversion of the
former Bank of New Zealand executive floor - a 7m high space - into
offices. A breakout room was suspended within this space, giving all
staff the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views. Pelorus were awarded a New Zealand Institute of Architects/Resene Branch Award and a Colour Award for this project in 2001. The builders, HiTech Commercial Interiors, received a similar award from the New Zealand Master Builders Federation for their part in the project.
